BEING A GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE NOT GROUND FOR GRANT OF BAIL: KARNATAKA HIGH COURT The Karnataka High Court was hearing the bail plea of a man employed as Assistant Executive Engineer at Karnataka Electricity Corporation Limited who was arrested on charges of raping and threatening a young woman. The accused was charged with offences punishable under Sections 376 (Rape), 420 (Cheating) and 506 (Criminal intimidation) of the IPC. The Court noted while rejecting the bail plea on the ground that the statement of the victim revealed that she was subjected to sexual acts against her wish by the accused who also threatened her with her life.
