TRIPURA HIGH COURT GRANTS BAIL TO ACCUSED WHO FABRICATED ALIAS TO MISLEAD INVESTIGATION The Tripura High Court recently granted bail to an accused whose plea before the Special Court was rejected owing to confusion regarding his identity (Santanu Mandal v. State of Tripura). Justice SG Chattopadhyay passed the order on November 15 directing the Special Judge to grant bail subject to his satisfaction of the bond terms. Further, the judge had noted that in the bail bond his father was identified as deceased, whereas the person who came forward as surety for the accused claimed to arrive on invitation of the accused's father. Giving these discrepancies, the Special Judge had rejected his bail plea. The same revealed that during his remand and interrogation, Mandal had misguided the police by saying he is in fact a Bangladeshi residing in India with a fake passport. Saha then contacted the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Kolkata to test the accused's story. The RPO got back saying that Mandal's passport is genuine, and also furnished copies of his voter and Aadhaar cards and even a police verification report. The Court thus ordered that Mandal be released on bail. Reddy & amp; Reddy Law Firm is having team of advocates and will help you in all Disputes.
