SEBI BROADENS SCOPE OF IEPF TO ENCOMPASS THE USE OF FUNDS FOR COMPENSATING INFORMANTS WHO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO BOARD SEBI has notified SEBI (Investor Protection and Education Fund) (Amendment) Regulations, 2023. A clause has been added to the existing Regulation 5 (2). The Investors Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) may now be utilised to provide and pay rewards to informants who provide original information to the Board in order to recover sums according to Section 28A of the SEBI Act, 1992; Section 23JB of the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956 or Section 19-I of the Depositories Act, 1996.
