SC TO ISSUE A NOTICE ON PARSI WOMEN BEING OSTRACISED FOR MARRYING OUTSIDE THEIR RELIGION The three judge bench of the Apex Court has issued notices to the Centre and the others on a plea that challenges the social discriminatory norms followed by Parsi’s if women marry outside their religion. The petitioner’s being a mother and her minor child brought the Court’s attention to these norms and challenged them for being violative of Article 14 and 21 of the Indian Constitution and that men marrying outside their religion were not subjected to such harassment. They further added to their plea by stating that the Parsi community has always believed in their racial superiority and subjecting young children who have been victimized simply due to the fact that their mother married out of their religion is against their fundamental human rights.
