Relaxation to hold AGM: Companies whose Financial year is ended 31st Dec 2019: The Ministry of Corporate Affairs issued a circular 21.04.2020 that Companies whose financial year (other than first financial year) ended on 31.12.2019 can hold their annual general meeting (AGM) for such financial year within a period of nine months from the closure of the financial year (i.e. by 30.09.2020). The abovementioned step in taken in view of difficulties faced by the companies amid COVID-19 lockdown. According to Companies Act 2013, the companies are allowed to hold its annual general meeting within a period of six months (nine months in case of first annual general meeting) from the closure of the financial year and not later than a period of 15 months from the date of last annual general meeting.
