QUASI-SOLITARY CONFINEMENT BY PUTTING PRISONERS IN CELLS FOR 22 HOURS A DAY VIOLATES RIGHT TO LIFE UNDER ARTICLE 21: PUNJAB AND HARYANA HIGH COURT The Punjab and Haryana High Court in the case of Rajia v. State of Punjab has held that the action of confinement of individual prisoners in individual cells for most part of the day and/or limitless periods is impermissible.
