NGT DIRECTS NHAI TO PAY A FINE OF RS. 2 CRORE COMPENSATION FOR VIOLATION OF GREEN HIGHWAY POLICY OF 2015 The National Green Tribunal directed the National Highways Authority of India to pay compensation of 2 crore to Principle Chief Conservator of Forest, Haryana for non-compliance of environmental obligation and violation of Guidelines of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. It was contended that in the nearby village a lot of dust was generated due to the fact that there was absence of water sprinkling and that the nearby tree plantation does not in any way mitigate the amount of dust generated by the project at the place where trees have been cut and thus do not substitute the environmental services of the cut trees.
