NATIONAL CONSUMER DISPUTES REDRESSAL COMMISSION DIRECTS PORSCHE TO COMPENSATE CUSTOMER FOR MISREPRESENTATION OF MANUFACTURING DATE OF CAR The Porsche India Pvt. Ltd. and Porsche outlet in Gurgaon has been directed by the commission to compensate a customer for misrepresenting manufacturing date of car which leads to unfair trade practices and deficiency in service. The car was manufactured in 2013 however Porsche centre misrepresented the date to be 2014 for which the bench of Justice Ram Surat Ram Maurya and Dr. Inderjit Singh directed compensation of Rupees Ten Lakhs and a simple interest at the rate of nine percent per annum. Mr. Praveen Kumar Mittal alleged that the car was manufactured in 2013 but the centre sold the Porsche Caynne Diesel Car for the price of year 2014 for Rs 80 lakhs and demanded a refund of the same or replace the car with new one in addition to other expenses and rupees 1 crore for mental agony caused by misrepresentation. The commission said that since the car has been used for so many years it cannot be replaced or the price cannot be refunded but the compensation would be granted on account of unfair trade practices and deficiency in service.
