KERALA HC LIFT BAN ON NON-WOVEN PLASTIC BAGS The Kerala High Court ruled on Tuesday that it was arbitrary and illegal for the government to include non-woven bags with a GSM of 60 and higher on the list of prohibited single-use plastic items without taking GSM standards into consideration or following the rules established by the 2016 Plastic Waste Management Rules. The prohibition on non-woven bags was implemented by the State of Kerala and the Kerala State Pollution Control Board in accordance with specific government orders. Two writ petitions were filed before Justice N. Nagaresh contesting this restriction.
