BOMBAY HIGH COURT DEFERS HEARING, REFUSES URGENT RELIEF IN VIEW OF TRANSFER PETITION BEFORE SUPREME COURT Bombay High Court on Thursday refused to grant interim relief to a digital news portal which challenged the recently notified Information Technology (Guidelines for intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The challenge contends that the IT Rules are contrary to fundamental rights and thus ultra vires. The high court granted interim relief to the news portal and deferred the hearing till next week. The Central government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking transfer of all pending petitions challenging the IT Rules.
